What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit. It lets the site recognise your browser on later visits or across pages. Some cookies are set by the site you are visiting (first-party cookies); others are set by services the site uses (third-party cookies). Sites also use similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, which behaves like a cookie for the purposes of this policy. Cookies can be session cookies, deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which stay until they expire or you delete them.
How this site uses cookies
This site uses three categories of cookies and similar technologies. Essential ones are needed for the site to work and to remember the choice you make in the cookie banner; they cannot be switched off. Analytics and functional ones are optional and are set only if you accept them, either by choosing "Accept All" or by turning them on individually under "Preferences". If you choose "Reject Non-Essential", only the essential category runs.
| Category | Name or type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | cg-cookie-choice (local storage) | Remembers whether you accepted, rejected or customised optional cookies so the banner does not reappear on every page | Until you clear your browser storage or change your choice |
| Essential | Hosting and security cookies | Set by the hosting platform to route requests, balance load and protect against automated abuse | Session, or a short period set by the host |
| Analytics | Analytics service cookies | When analytics is enabled and you have accepted, distinguish one visitor from another and record which pages are viewed, for how long and from what type of device, so we can see which guides are useful. Data is aggregated and not used to identify you. | Persistent, as set by the analytics service; typically months rather than years |
| Functional | Display preference cookies | When functional cookies are enabled and you have accepted, remember settings you choose on the site, such as a collapsed panel or a preferred text size, so they persist between visits | Persistent until cleared |
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time. Clear the site's data in your browser and the banner will appear again on your next visit, letting you choose afresh. Alternatively, open your browser's storage settings for choicegrdtogetherly.asia and remove the item named cg-cookie-choice. Withdrawing consent for analytics or functional cookies stops new ones being set; cookies already on your device can be removed using the browser controls below.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies. The controls are usually found under privacy or site settings.
Blocking all cookies may stop some features of some websites from working properly. On this site, blocking essential storage means the cookie banner will be shown on every page, but the guides themselves will remain readable.
Cookies and personal data
Some cookies, particularly analytics cookies, may involve the processing of personal data such as an IP address or a device identifier. How we handle that data, the legal basis for doing so and your rights are set out in the Privacy Policy. The rules on cookies in the United Kingdom come from the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations alongside UK data protection law, and the Information Commissioner's Office publishes guidance for individuals at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change the cookies the site uses, we will update the table above. Where a change would mean setting a new category of optional cookie, we will ask for your consent again through the banner before doing so.
